The Trip Report Live: A Deep Dive Into State & Federal Psychedelic Policy
With the Leadership team from the policy and advocacy group, Reason for Hope
Back in July, The Intercept reported on correspondences between psychedelic activists, lawmakers, and heads of at least two federal agencies (Health and Human Services and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services) that revealed plans for a federal Inter-Agency Task Force for Psychedelic Medicines and Therapy.
Although the headline of the Intercept piece would have you believe the Biden administration was behind this, it was in fact, the effort of Reason for Hope, a policy and advocacy group working behind the scenes to craft legislation, educate lawmakers and build a bipartisan coalition to advance psychedelic policy at the state and federal level.
I have been fortunate enough to get to know the team and learn about their behind-the-scenes work, and I realized they would be great first guests for the new series, The Trip Report Live!
In this hour-long panel discussion, I will be joined by the Reason for Hope leadership Lt. Gen Martin R. Steele USMC (Ret.), Dr. Lynette Averill Ph.D., and Brett Waters.
You will hear them share their insights on the current state of psychedelic policy at the federal and state levels, what's brewing behind the scenes, and what progress we can expect to see in the coming months and years.
This is an incredible learning opportunity to hear directly from advocates affecting change at the state and federal levels. There will be time for questions from attendees, so come prepared with your pressing questions about psychedelic policy!
This was a great discussion to catch. I hope you will post on Youtube. What is your channel? Thank you.
Zach, thanks for organizing this great conversation. I'm deeply involved with the VA efforts, helping some key players develop their VA strategy. Would it be possible to get access to the recording? I didn't catch the details of the hearing Lt. Gen. Steele mentioned in preparation for which he detailed the recommendations he walked us through. Would love to dive deeper. Many thanks, Julia
